The Leaner the Ops,
the Greener the Fleet

Why sustainability starts with smarter operations

When your aircraft are flying empty 30% or 40% of the time, no amount of carbon credits will fix the problem. Start by using the right plane for each job, and cutting waste.

1. Start with proper information

Empty legs are expensive. Not just in fuel, but in crew hours, maintenance cycles and lost opportunity. The right data and system help you see what’s working, and where your aircraft are flying without purpose. Here is the difference between human intuition and true insights.

2. Focus on your fleet configuration and scheduling

Not every green initiative needs a press release.

Small shifts in how you rotate aircraft or optimize their location can have an outsized impact.

The more structural changes will, of course, make a big difference too. Operators with consistent fleet types and floating bases tend to earn more. So, a decision to add an aircraft to the fleet and choosing that aircraft carefully will go a long way.

3. Don’t wait for net zero to take action

You don’t need a sustainability label to start making progress. One fewer ferry flight already moves the needle.

The culture among clients and within the industry is starting to shift. (Almost) no one would send a jet across the continent just to pick up a cheesecake!

4. From insight to action

Reports don’t fix inefficiencies. Good information and action do. At RISE, we help operators simulate smarter schedules and make changes that reduce empty legs and improve utilization. You already have the data. The question is what you’re doing with it.

Sustainability isn’t a side project. It’s good operations!
